Grow Old With Me

Artists don't have to grow up with me. They have no obligation to do anything other than whatever the fuck they want. In fact, I prefer they do precisely that. But as a fan, it's difficult for me to keep following a band if they're not growing up with me. Sure, I can put on an old punk record for nostalgic value and be able to fully rock out to it, but I can't relate to it anymore. I'm not […]

Crystal Gems in Disguise

Fans of the show know that I'm a bit obsessed with the show Steven Universe. In the off-season I find myself coming up with strange headcanon to make my world view more interesting. In addition to Garnet's voice, lent by the talented singer-songwriter Estelle, the show occasionally features other celebrity voice cameos. What if these singers are Gems from the Homeworld, in disguise? And if that's the case, wouldn't there potentially be many more?

Ryan Adams 101: Who Is That Guy Covering Taylor Swift?

Monday morning brought the release of Ryan Adams' cover album of Taylor Swift's "1989". As a fan of Ryan Adams, and a closet fan of "Shake It Off", I had been looking forward to this for a while. As I did my routine morning scroll through Facebook, I noticed a few people (mostly Millennials but not all) were wondering who the hell Ryan Adams was. I know this isn't nearly as bad as the people who had never heard of […]

Trainwreck: For a Rom-com, it didn’t suck

In general I just hate rom-coms. HaaaAAAAte. You have to imagine me saying that with a lot of hot, phlegmy breath drawn out over at least seven seconds in order to hear the tone of disgust in my voice. I went with my friend because she's going through a break-up and you kind of have to make sacrifices in times like this, right? So of course I suggested that we meet at one of the local movie theaters that serves […]

Reasons You Should Be Watching Steven Universe

Steven Universe debuted on November 4, 2013 on Cartoon Network. Its fanbase is tiny compared to its powerhouse cousins Adventure Time and Regular Show... but it is picking up steam every day. Moreover, fans of Steven Universe instantly bond with one another, like we're all part of a very cool exclusive club. Still, this gem (pun intended) of a show doesn't get nearly the recognition it should, and I'm hoping to change that.

Thoughts on 713: The real ‘Mad Men’ long con

People don’t change. Their circumstances may change. They may gain new perspective based on experience. They do resign themselves to their fate. That acceptance may look like change. It isn’t. People do not - at their core - change. Still, many want to believe. “Mad Men” had a little fun with that desire Sunday night during its penultimate episode. Pete Campbell Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser) cut back on whining, but his sense of entitlement is as strong as ever. He […]

George Harrison facts

George Harrison’s birthday is today, so in his honor I present you with a list of facts about my favorite Beatle. Well, his birthday is widely believed to be February 25. Later in life he discovered a possible clerical error which suggested he may have been born at 11:50 on the 24th. “The Quiet one” denied being quiet as a clever way to pick up chicks. George was too young to even get into a lot of the clubs where the Beatles performed early […]

Fatventures: Wawa Pumpkin Cannoli Dip

Fatventures is going to be a regular column where I eat random weird snacks that I find, and review them. I'll take requests, if there's a food that you'd like me to try, email mouthybroadcast@gmail.com and let me know! Bonus points if you send it to me for free. Negative points if you say HURRRHURR EAT MY DICK. Fatventures: I eat, so you don't have to! This time I'll be reviewing the Pumpkin Cannoli dip from Wawa.
